Two Nigerians, Matthew Precious Kelechi and Amakor Johnson, who rose to fame in 2022 after a video of them dancing while on duty as security guards went viral, have received two brand new motorcycles from philanthropist De Kings and content creator Gossipmill to help them start a new chapter as dispatch riders.
Their story since going viral has been eventful and at times difficult.
The attention they gained led to their dismissal from their security jobs, and while they were later offered a scholarship to study in Cyprus, that opportunity ended badly when both were arrested and deported back to Nigeria in late 2023. Since returning home, they have been trying to make ends meet through various online ventures.
The gift of motorcycles has been widely seen as a practical and meaningful gesture to help the duo get back on their feet. Reactions on social media have been largely positive, with many people cheering on the second chance they have been given.
However, some have raised practical concerns about the cost of maintenance and whether the two will remain committed to the dispatch riding business in the long run.
