Officers of the Edo State Police Command have arrested five suspected kidnappers and successfully rescued their victim, Jemila Ibrahim, without any harm coming to her.
The development was confirmed in a statement issued by the command’s spokesperson, Eno Ikoedem, on Tuesday.
According to the statement, Ibrahim was rescued on May 13 during a bush combing operation conducted along Okpege River Road in the Iyuku Community in Jattu, Edo North.
She had been abducted on May 10 and was found unharmed before being taken to a hospital for medical evaluation as a precaution.
The five individuals arrested in connection with the abduction were identified as Nura Saminu, aged 24; Shaibu Isah, 23; Suraj Sabitu, 23; Yajubu Sagiru, 23; and Oseni Abdullahi, 26.
All five are currently in custody and are expected to be charged in court once investigations have been completed.
The Commissioner of Police, CP Monday Agbonika, commended the operatives who carried out the rescue operation and assured the people of Edo State that the command remains fully committed to tackling kidnapping and other violent crimes across the state.
