Senator Isah Jibrin has rejected claims that he has stepped down from the race for the All Progressives Congress (APC) senatorial ticket ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Jibrin who represents Kogi East Senatorial District described reports alleging his withdrawal as “falsehoods, fabricated reports, and mischievous propaganda” being circulated by “desperate political actors.”
He made the clarification in statement issued on Thursday, May 21, 2026.
“I remain the authentic candidate of the APC in Kogi East and firmly committed to seeking the mandate of my people once again under the platform of our great party, the APC.
“At no time did I withdraw, step down, or authorise any individual or group to issue statements on my behalf regarding such baseless claims,” Senator Jibrin declared.
The senator said he had never – whether verbally or in writing – informed any person, institution, or authority of his intention not to return to the Senate in 2027.
He described himself as “stoic, resolute, focused, and more prepared than ever” to continue representing the people of Kogi East.
Senator Jibrin also urged APC leaders, supporters, and stakeholders in the district not to be swayed by what he termed the antics of “fifth columnists” whose activities revolve around confusion, blackmail, and political mischief.
Accusing the sponsors of the reports of being in “panic mode” after failing to secure popular support, the lawmaker said they have resorted to “crude propaganda, misinformation, and desperate underhanded tactics.”
“No amount of fabricated stories, sponsored propaganda, forged statements, or orchestrated campaigns of falsehood can diminish the overwhelming support, goodwill, and confidence the people of Kogi East continue to repose in me,” he added.
He further reaffirmed his commitment to the peace, progress, and development of Kogi East and called on all supporters, party faithful, and the general public to disregard the “malicious reports”.
“I remain the authentic and formidable candidate for the 2027 APC Kogi East Senatorial District,” he noted.
