Fear and unrest swept through the Umuadara community in Umulogho, Obowo Local Government Area of Imo State on Thursday, following the shocking discovery of the brutal murder of Wendy Achumba, a female nursing student from Ngwa in Abia State.
The victim, who had already completed her Midwifery programme and was pursuing further Post Basic studies at the College of Nursing, Umulogho, was found dead in her apartment in Umuadara.
Her body showed clear signs of extreme violence, with blood stains covering the surroundings.
Residents who stumbled upon the scene raised an alarm that quickly drew a crowd of youths and community members.
Those who witnessed the aftermath described the incident as deeply disturbing.
A resident who spoke on condition of anonymity said the victim was known as a quiet and focused student, and that no one could have anticipated such a tragedy befalling her.
The killing reportedly ignited fury among local youths, and the situation grew tense when security personnel arrived at the scene.
According to sources in the area, police officers who responded to the incident were met with hostility from grieving and angry residents who demanded swift investigation and justice for the deceased.
