A group of the All Progressives Congress (APC) leaders in Oyo state has endorsed governorship aspirant, Sharafadeen Alli, as the preferred candidate for the 2027 Gubernatorial election.
The Oyo APC leaders declared Sharafadeen as their adopted candidate for the election irrespective of the party’s decision to hold primaries or not.
They made the declaration during a stakeholders’ engagement on Wednesday with one of the leaders expressing confidence in his emergence as the next governor of the state.
“Firstly, we want to affirm the candidature of Barrister Senator Sharafadeen Alli. Once we affirmed him, everyone here will also do the same. That implies that his candidacy is sealed and stamped.
“Barrister Senator Sharafadeen Abiodun Alli has today been adopted. Whether we go to primaries or not, Sharafadeen Alli is the next governor of Oyo state.” The APC leader declared as he charged party members present at the event to support the endorsement.
Sharafadeen’s endorsement by the APC has further intensified the race for the APC’s governorship ticket.
His endorsement came hours after the official declaration of interest in the ticket by former Minister of Power, Adebayo Adelabu.
The ex-Minister had at the declaration on Tuesday unveiled what he calls a ‘Rebirth Agenda’ to overhaul the state’s economy and generate jobs.
