The Kebbi State Hisbah Board has announced the arrest of a young man and a young woman in the Filin Idi area of Birnin Kebbi, following allegations that the two were engaged in conduct deemed immoral and inconsistent with Islamic teachings and societal values.
In an official statement released by the Board’s Director of Shariah, Sirajo Kamba, the agency also disclosed that a separate raid on a property in Gesse Phase 2, Birnin Kebbi, led to the apprehension of seven women and two young men suspected of involvement in drug abuse and other immoral activities.
A number of other individuals at the scene managed to flee by scaling the fence before they could be caught.
The board additionally revealed that 23 foreign nationals were arrested by the Nigeria Immigration Service after they were found wandering without any clear or legitimate purpose.
The individuals were encountered during routine patrols conducted by immigration officers aimed at identifying illegal immigrants and those engaging in suspicious behaviour.
Following their arrest, all 23 persons were handed over to the Hisbah Board for further questioning and appropriate action.
The Director of Shariah confirmed that investigations into all the cases are currently ongoing.
