Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has extended his lead in the ongoing presidential primary election of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) after winning in Lagos, Kebbi and Kano states.
In Lagos State, Atiku polled 37,779 votes to defeat former Rivers State Governor and ex-Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi, who scored 6,791 votes.
Another aspirant in the race, Mohammed Hayatu-Deen, came third with 2,261 votes.
In Kebbi State, the former Vice President also recorded a strong victory, securing 65,153 votes.
Amaechi came second in the state with 5,931 votes. The figure for Hayatu-Deen in Kebbi was not immediately available from the result announced.
The ADC also announced the result of the presidential primary in Kano State, where Atiku again defeated the other aspirants.
According to the result, Atiku scored 155,995 votes, while Amaechi polled 15,914 votes.
Hayatu-Deen came third in Kano with 9,994 votes.
PrimeTimes Nigeria reports that the Kano result gave Atiku one of his highest vote tallies so far in the primary and further strengthened his position in the contest.
The results from the three states came as the ADC continued to release figures from its presidential primary election across the country.
Atiku, Amaechi and Hayatu-Deen are contesting for the party’s presidential ticket ahead of the 2027 general election.
The former Vice President has so far maintained a strong showing in several states, while Amaechi has also recorded pockets of support in some areas.
Party officials are expected to continue announcing results from other states as collation progresses.
