Former Minister of Communications and Digital Economy, Isa Pantami, has dumped the All Progressives Congress (APC) to the Nyesom Wike-backed faction of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
This is coming barely a week after suffering defeat at the APC Gombe Governorship Primary Election.
Pantami had in reaction accused the party’s leadership in the state of disregarding the provision of the law with the declaration of Jamilu Gwamna as the APC’s consensus candidate.
While he is yet to officially announce his membership withdrawal from the APC, the ex-Minister would on Tuesday joined the Wike-backed faction of the PDP where he was declared as the party’s flagbearer for the 2027 Gombe Governorship Elecetion.
According to reports, Pantami emerged as the party’s candidate through a voice affirmation by members during the PDP primary election held on Tuesday in Gombe.
He was declared winner as the sole aspirant by the Chairman of the PDP Electoral Panel, Gregory Yenlong.
Speaking shortly after his emergence, Pantami said his decision to contest was driven by a desire to serve the people of the state.
He also pledged to govern with fairness and justice if elected.
