Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has emerged winner of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) presidential primary election in Zamfara State.
The result was announced on Monday by the chairman and returning officer of the ADC presidential primary election committee, Muhammad Musa, at the state collation centre located at the Command Guests House in Gusau.
According to Musa, the primary election was conducted across the 147 political wards in the 14 local government areas of the state.
He disclosed that the ADC had a total of 63,404 registered members in Zamfara State.
Musa added that 61,137 votes were cast during the exercise.
Announcing the results, the returning officer said Atiku polled 60,500 votes to emerge victorious.
Former Minister of Transportation Rotimi Amaechi secured 191 votes, while Mohammed Hayatu-Deen polled 446 votes.
“The process was conducted in line with the party guidelines and the outcome was declared based on the total number of votes collated,” Musa said.
The returning officer congratulated all aspirants and party members for the peaceful conduct of the exercise.
He also urged members of the ADC to remain united ahead of the 2027 general elections.
