Nigerians have raised concerns on social media regarding the alleged access of Lere Olayinka, Spokesman to the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, to an administrative portal linked to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
PrimeTimes Nigeria reports that this comes after Olayinka shared screenshots while questioning the voter registration transfer of Nollywood actor cum politician, Emeka Ike.
In the post on 𝕏, Olayinka shared screenshots showing information from what appeared to be an INEC administrative dashboard, including details of a voter transfer application and timestamps related to the registration process.
The social media post sparked online criticism, with many Nigerians questioning how a political aide gained access to a restricted electoral database.
Critics further argued that if the screenshots originated from an official INEC system, the incident could raise concerns about data privacy, voter information security and potential unauthorised access to electoral records.
While some social media users claimed that INEC has been compromised, others urged the electoral body to clarify the authorisation to access such information.
