Former senator representing Adamawa North, Ishaku Abbo has declared his intention to contest the 2027 governorship election in the state under the Labour Party (LP).

Abbo announced his ambition on Thursday while unveiling what he described as semi-official campaign posters in Yola, the Adamawa state capital.

The former senator recalled his victory in the 2019 senatorial election, saying he defeated entrenched political interests despite contesting against powerful figures within the All Progressives Congress (APC).

His words: “In 2019, I first ran for Senate against the incumbent APC Senator in power Sen Binta Masi Garba backed by the then sitting President Buhari and Governor Bindow Jibrilla.

“With two sitting members of the house of Representatives of the APC in my zone Hon Adamu Kamale and Abdulrahman Shuaibu, 5 members of the state house of Assembly and many more government appointees of the APC in power in Northern zone, it was like swimming against the tide.

“I was never discouraged as I fought hard like a true soldier that I am born to be. The rest is history as I won landslide.”

Abbo said he remained confident of securing victory in the 2027 governorship election, adding: “I will win landslide again in 2027.” he said.

The former lawmaker also announced plans to release details of his investment and economic development agenda for Adamawa state.

“In just two years, Adamawa will become a top investment destination employing hundreds of thousands of YOUTHS,” he said.

Abbo added that he would begin publishing aspects of his manifesto on social media in the coming days
