THE Federal High Court of Nigeria has directed all its registries nationwide to open on weekends and public holidays for filing pre-election matters.
The court said the directive became necessary because of the limited timeframe allowed for filing pre-election cases.
In a circular dated May 22, the court said registries would operate on Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m.
The circular was addressed to Deputy Chief Registrars, Station Registrars, the Nigerian Bar Association and the general public.
The notice stated that the arrangement applied strictly to pre-election matters.
The circular was signed by Tamarapreye A. Tabai, Deputy Chief Registrar (Litigation), for the Chief Registrar.
