FCT CP Receives International Federation of Women Lawyers

The Commissioner of Police, FCT Command, CP Ahmed Muhammed Sanusi, PhD., FCAI, on Tuesday, 13th May, 2026, received a delegation from the International Federation of Women Lawyers, led by the Chairperson, Chioma Onyenucheya-Uko, at the FCT Police Command Headquarters, Garki II, Abuja, on a courtesy visit.

Speaking during the meeting, the Chairperson of the Abuja Branch, Chioma Onyenucheya-Uko, Esq., commended the efforts of the FCT Police Command in maintaining law and order across the Territory and expressed the organization’s readiness to work closely with the Command towards strengthening community confidence, safeguarding the rights of vulnerable groups, and promoting a more effective justice delivery system.

The Chairperson also requested that dedicated Gender Desk Officers be assigned to work closely with the organization in handling cases involving sexual and gender-based violence and other matters affecting vulnerable persons.

In his response, the Commissioner of Police, FCT Command, CP Ahmed Muhammed Sanusi, PhD., FCAI, appreciated the delegation for the visit and assured them of the Command’s commitment to collaboration with organizations whose objectives align with the principles of justice, protection of human rights, and public safety. He reaffirmed the readiness of the FCT Police Command to support initiatives geared towards protecting vulnerable persons and enhancing public trust in policing through strategic partnerships and community engagement.

In furtherance of this commitment, the Commissioner of Police directed the Deputy Commissioner of Police, State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Ibrahim Jibril, to immediately deploy Gender Desk Officers to liaise with FIDA Abuja Branch and strengthen coordination in the investigation and handling of cases involving vulnerable persons.

The meeting concluded with both parties reaffirming their shared commitment to promoting institutional cooperation aimed at enhancing public safety, access to justice, and community confidence within the Federal Capital Territory.
