Desmond Elliot, a lawmaker representing Surulere 1, has affirmed his determination to seek re-election to the Lagos State House of Assembly.
He urged his supporters in a message shared on social media, emphasizing the importance of unity and experience in the race
“With unity and proven experience, a better Surulere 1 is certain. Experience over experiment. Let’s finish this together,” Elliot wrote.
NPO reports that this comes days after the APC chieftain alleged that he and his supporters were facing intimidation in the build-up to the party’s primaries for state assembly elections.
In a video shared online on Sunday, Elliot claimed that his security aides had been withdrawn without explanation.
He also alleged that some of his supporters in Surulere had been threatened and pressured to support another aspirant.
The lawmaker further accused local government officials of involvement in the alleged intimidation, claiming that some council workers were dismissed because of their support for his re-election bid.
Elliot expressed concern over what he described as attempts to influence the political process ahead of the APC primaries.
Elliot, a former Nollywood actor turned politician, has represented the constituency since 2015.
