The Director-General of the National Orientation Agency (NOA), Lanre Issa-Onilu, has urged Nigerian children to embrace patriotism, discipline and hard work as the country marks the 2026 Children’s Day celebration.
Issa-Onilu described children as the hope, strength and future of Nigeria, stressing that the nation’s future depends largely on the quality of values and opportunities given to them today.
In a statement issued by the Deputy Director, Communications and Media, Paul Odenyi, the NOA boss called on children across the country to remain focused on learning and moral excellence.
According to him, Children’s Day is a reminder of the responsibility of government, parents, teachers and society to protect the welfare and future of every child.
“The future of our nation depends greatly on the values, education and opportunities we provide for our children today,” he said.
The NOA Director-General warned children against crime, drug abuse, cultism, cybercrime and violence, urging them instead to embrace integrity, creativity and national unity.
He also reaffirmed the agency’s commitment to promoting civic values and responsible citizenship through enlightenment programmes in schools and communities.
Issa-Onilu commended parents, teachers and caregivers for their sacrifices despite current economic challenges.
“As we celebrate our children today, let us all renew our commitment to building a Nigeria where every child can dream, thrive and succeed,” he added.
The NOA boss wished Nigerian children a happy and memorable Children’s Day celebration.
