Former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar, has emerged as the winner of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) presidential primary elections in Yobe and Adamawa states.
He polled 44,841 and 60,500 votes respectively in each of the states to defeat the former Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi, and Mohammed Hayatu-Deen.
While announcing the results of the election in Yobe at the ADC’s secretariat in Damaturu on Monday, the State Primary Election Returning Officer, Hajiya Ma’am Kyari, said Amaechi secured 300 votes, while Mohammed Hayatu-Deen got 365 votes.
“Having scored the highest number of valid votes cast, H.E. Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, GCON, is hereby declared the winner of the ADC Presidential Primary Election in Yobe State,” Kyari declared.
She commended party members, officials, and security agencies for ensuring a smooth and orderly process, and thanked all aspirants and their supporters for maintaining decorum.
Also speaking on the party primary, the Yobe State ADC governorship candidate, Kassim Gana Geidam, praised the peaceful conduct of the election, noting the strong support from party members.

Similarly, Atiku was pronounced the winner of the ADC presidential primary election in Adamawa by the presidential primary election committee chairman and Returning Officer, Muhammad Musa.
Addressing journalists at the state collation centre, Command Guest House, Yola, Musa said the election was conducted across all the local government areas of the state.
He added that the total number of registered members of the ADC in the state stood at 63,404, while the total votes cast in the election was 61,137.
According to him, Atiku polled 60,500 votes, Amaechi secured 191 votes, while Hayatu-Deen got 446 votes.
“The process was conducted in line with the party guidelines and the outcome was declared based on the total number of votes collated. I congratulate all participants and urge party members to remain united ahead of the general elections,” he said.
