The National Publicity Secretary of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Bolaji Abdullahi, has disclosed that former Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi, once threatened to leave the coalition.
PrimeTimes Nigeria reports that Abdullahi made the disclosure during an interview on Symfoni TV on Thursday.
According to the ADC spokesman, Amaechi was unhappy that the coalition leadership was allegedly giving preferential treatment to former Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi.
Abdullahi said, “There was a time that His Excellency Rotimi Amaechi went to the national chairman and was threatening to leave the coalition. You know why?.
“He felt that the chairman was pampering Peter Obi, that he was conceding everything to Peter.”
Abdullahi said one of his deputies in the coalition structure was nominated by Obi.
“I had two deputies. One of them was brought by Peter,” he added.
The ADC spokesman also said no member of the National Working Committee could be described as loyal to Amaechi.
Abdullahi further stated, “I cannot point at anybody in the NWC that you can say is an Amaechi man. I doubt if Atiku can say okay this is my person I nominated.”
Abdullahi revealed that former Aviation Minister, Osita Chidoka, had initially worked actively for the coalition before Peter Obi joined.
“Before His Excellency Peter Obi joined the coalition, you had other people like Osita Chidoka, the former Minister of Aviation, in the coalition, working very hard for the coalition building.
“He was hoping to be the National Organising Secretary, but when Peter Obi came to give him a sense of belonging, that’s how we lost Osita because we then gave that position to Peter Obi,” Abdullahi stated.
