Former Rivers State governor and ex-Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi, has said radical steps have to be taken to move Nigeria forward, warning that politicians will keep stealing if Nigerians do not “stone” them.
He made this known on Friday while appearing as a guest on the Arise Television programme, Prime Time.
According to the African Democratic Congress (ADC) chieftain, politicians are impoverishing Nigerians and it is time for citizens of the country to wake up and do the needful.

Speaking during the interview, Amaechi said, “As a governor of Rivers State at Freedom House in a ceremony organised by Prof. Wole Soyinka, I told Nigerians that we the politicians will not stop stealing if Nigerians don’t stone us.
“The politicians are impoverishing Nigerians. I’m a different politician and there are others as well.”
He, however, noted that while “a lot of governors have made positive contributions” to Nigeria’s development, governance is generally “slowly dying”.
The former minister added, “A lot of governors have made positive contributions. But governance is slowly dying and it’s quite painful.”
