A chieftain of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) and former Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi, has said that his first priority, if elected President, will be to enforce the rule of law.
Amaechi said there must be law and order in the country, accusing the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) of allegedly influencing government institutions against the opposition.
PrimeTimes Nigeria reports that he spoke late Friday during an interview on Arise Television.
The former Rivers State governor said respect for the rule of law would be the foundation of his administration if elected President.
He asked, “If the APC said they are strong, why are they influencing the government institutions against the opposition? Why won’t they leave the rule of law?
“The first thing I will do as president of Nigeria is the rule of law. There has to be law and order.”
Amaechi Accuses Tinubu Of Weaponising Hunger
Amaechi also accused President Bola Tinubu of creating hunger as a tool to manipulate voters ahead of elections.
According to him, distributing food items during elections would not solve the hardship facing Nigerians.
“A bag of rice does not solve hunger for the rest of the year. If APC is as strong as they claim, why are they not allowing opposition parties to thrive?” he asked.
He said Nigerians might collect whatever is shared with them on election day but still vote against the APC.
