Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has commended President Bola Tinubu and the Minister of Works, Dave Umahi, over the approval of contracts for the rehabilitation of key federal roads in the state, describing the development as a major boost to economic activities and transportation.

The Federal Government, through the Federal Executive Council (FEC), recently approved the rehabilitation of the Osogbo–Gbongan–Akoda–Osogbo road as well as the Osogbo–Iwo–Ibadan corridor.

This was disclosed in a statement by the Spokesperson to the State Governor, Mallam Olawale Rasheed, on Friday, May 1.

Reacting to the approval, Adeleke said the intervention would bring significant relief to road users and improve commercial activities across Osun State.

“I received the news of the FG through the Federal Executive Council (FEC) of the approval of two key federal roads in Osun State. The rehabilitation of Osogbo – Gbongan road and Osogbo – Iwo – Ibadan road will no doubt bring great relief and enhance economic development of Osun state,” he said.

The governor recalled that he had earlier raised the condition of the roads during a working visit to the Minister of Works.

“During my official working visit to the Minister of Works, Engr. David Umahi on 18th October, 2024, I presented these roads and pleaded for urgent intervention,” he said.

Adeleke praised both the President and the Works Minister for responding to the state’s request, pledging continued cooperation during the execution of the projects.

“I applaud the listening ears of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the Minister and pledge the support of our government during the period of executing these projects,” he added.

He further described the approval as a positive signal of collaboration between Osun State and the Federal Government, noting that it reflects responsiveness to developmental needs.

“Mr President has validated our endorsement of him as our preferred candidate for the 2027 race. Osun truly appreciates it. We look forward to an even more robust partnership with the Presidency and the Federal Government,” he said.
