Popular Ibadan-based radio personality, Oriyomi Hamzat, has been declared as the Accord Party’s candidate for the 2027 Oyo Governorship Election.

Hamzat, who had last year declared interest in the Oyo governorship race, had contested for the Accord Party’s ticket.

He was declared Accord consensus candidate by Oyo state chapter leaders of the party on Tuesday.

While confirming the development in a statement issued on his X handle, the owner of Agidigbo FM expressed his gratitude to the party leaders and members for their support.

Hamzat held that the support of the party strengthened his belief in changing the future of the state through people-oriented leadership, justice, development, and progress.

‘I am deeply humbled by the overwhelming support shown to me following my emergence as the Accord Consensus Candidate for the 2027 Governorship Election in Oyo State.

“This moment is not just about me, it is about our collective hope for a better, safer, and more prosperous Oyo State.

“The massive show of love and acceptance from party leaders, stakeholders, followers, and supporters across the state has strengthened my belief that together, we can build the future our people truly deserve.

“I sincerely appreciate the leadership of the Accord, National and State, and every individual who believes in this vision of people-oriented leadership, justice, development, and progress.” He said.

Hamzat expressed readiness to work with the people and create a government that truly serves them.

“Your trust and confidence mean a lot to me, and I do not take this responsibility lightly.

“To the thousands of supporters who continue to stand firmly with this movement, I say thank you. Your prayers, sacrifices, loyalty, and commitment will continue to inspire me throughout this journey.

“By the grace of God and with the support of the good people of Oyo State, we will work together to create a government that truly serves the people. The journey has begun. It’s not business as usual.” He said.

Meanwhile, Hamzat expressed concern over the teachers and students abducted by suspected terrorists in Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo.

The radio personality prayed for their safe return as he harped on the need to address the insecurity in the state.

“At this moment, my heart is also with the innocent children, teachers, and families affected by the tragic attack in Oriire Local Government.

“As some victims still remain in captivity, we share in the pain, grief, anxiety, and uncertainty their loved ones are going through.

“We continue to pray fervently for their safe and immediate return, while standing in solidarity with every affected family during this difficult time.

“No society can truly prosper where fear and insecurity threaten the lives of its people, especially our children and educators.” He said.
