ADC Postpones Presidential Primary Results Collation

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has postponed the collation of its presidential primary election results over Eid-el-Kabir celebration.

Chief Ikechi Emenike, the Chairman of the Presidential Primary Election Committee, announced the postponement of the collation in the late hours of Tuesday

Ikechi said the decision was to allow party members who are Muslims to celebrate the Eid-el-Kabir.

He announced that the collation for the remaining states would commence 8 p.m today, explaining that some returning officers had flights challenges to Abuja.

“We are postponing the collation to allow our brothers and sisters celebrate Sallah participate in the religious activity and to enable returning officers who had flight challenges to arrive Abuja latter today,” Emenike stated.

According to reports, results from 24 states and FCT had already been announced by various state returning officers, remaining 12 states before the postponement.

The states include Borno, Kebbi, Anambra, Abia, Ekiti, Ondo, Gombe, Oyo, Imo, Yobe, Nasarawa, Enugu, Benue, Osun, Adamawa and Kogi states.

Others are Kano, Akwa Ibom, Ebonyi , Niger, Plateau, Sokoto, Taraba Zamfara and the FCT.

Meanwhile, tension looms over the final outcome of the election as one of the aspirants, Mohammed Hayatu-Deen, vowed to boycott the collation over alleged vote rigging.

NPO Reported that Hayatu-Deen had in a statement issued on Tuesday expressed concern over the conduct of the primaries as he claimed to have personally witnessed vote rigging during the election.

Similarly, former Rivers State Governor, Rotimi Amaechi, who is also contending for the ADC presidential ticket, rejected the collated results of the primaries across the states.
