2 security guards docked for allegedly stealing N5.2m television sets

Two security guards of a Lagos-based company, Enoch Isaiah and Shaibu Kabiru, on Monday appeared before an Ikeja Magistrates’ Court for allegedly stealing television sets valued at N5.2 million.

The defendants are facing a two-count charge bordering on conspiracy and stealing, preferred against them by the police.

The prosecutor, Supol Josephine Ikhayere, told the court that the defendants committed the offences on May 13 at about 2.45 p.m. at Xanda Technologies, No. 3 Salami Olonade St., Isheri Magodo, Lagos.

Ikhayere alleged that the defendants conspired and stole several television sets belonging to the company.

She said the items stolen included a 65-inch Vestel television valued at N2 million and a 55-inch Vestel television valued at N1.9 million.

Other items stolen were a 50-inch Vestel television valued at N1.8 million and two 43-inch Bestel televisions valued at N3 million.

According to her, the total value of the stolen items is N5.2 million.

Magistrate L.A. Owolabi granted them bail in the sum of N500,000 each, with two reliable sureties in like sum.
