Leaders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Yobe State have declared their support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to seek another term in office ahead of the 2027 election.
PrimeTimes Nigeria reports that the decision was made on Thursday during a stakeholders’ meeting held in Damaturu, where party members and top officials gathered to discuss the party’s direction and the state of the nation.
Those present agreed to support the President, pointing to his policies and ongoing reforms as reasons for their decision.
The meeting was attended by key figures in the party, including the Minister of Police Affairs, Ibrahim Geidam, as well as other government officials and party executives.
Governor Mai Mala Buni, while addressing the gathering, spoke about the state’s political journey. He explained that before 2015, Yobe was not connected to any major national political platform.
According to him, the formation of the APC through the merger of different parties created an opportunity for the state to become part of the national government.
He said the state has gained from its link with the ruling party since 2015, adding that the connection helped support efforts to rebuild and recover from past challenges. Based on this, he called on residents to continue backing the party and supporting President Tinubu in the next election.
