Lere Olayinka, media aide to the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has alleged that Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde is threatening violence because he has lost out in the struggle for control of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Olayinka, who serves as the Senior Special Assistant on Public Communications and Social Media to the Minister, made this known in a recent post shared on his official X (formerly Twitter) page.
He added that the incumbent Oyo Governor is also desperately seeking a vice-presidential slot within the African Democratic Congress (ADC).
Describing Makinde as “partyless,” Olayinka traced the Governor’s desperation to his alleged failure to dethrone the Olubadan, Oba Rashidi Adewolu Ladoja, and his inability to prevent Senator Sharafadeen Alli from contesting for the APC governorship ticket, among other issues.
Furthermore, he accused the Governor of attempting a repeat of the South West “Operation Wetie” political violence of the 1960s, simply because he is no longer favoured by the political system.

Writing via his verified handle, Olayinka stated: “I just hope he knows the gravity of inciting violence, even as a sitting governor.
“He failed to secure total control of the PDP to use the party for his juvenile vice-presidential ambition.
“He failed in his bid to remove the Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Rashidi Adewolu Ladoja.
“He failed to use a Tipatikuuku (by fire, by force) coronation to stop Sharafadeen Alli from contesting for the APC governorship ticket in Oyo State.
“He has refused to account for the ₦30bn he collected from the Federal Government to settle victims of the Bodija, Ibadan explosion of January 2024. He even said he was going to return the money to the FG, but up until now, he hasn’t.
“Now, he is threatening violence just because he has lost out in the PDP and is desperately looking for the ADC vice-presidential ticket.
“It is alright; let him continue. But will he put his own children forward to lead the violence?”
