A faction of the Peoples Democratic Party linked to FCT Minister Nyesom Wike has told its members to ignore reports of a meeting between another group within the party and the African Democratic Congress.
PrimeTimes Nigeria reports that the group, through its national publicity secretary, Jungudo Mohammed, said the gathering involving the Taminu Turaki-led faction was not approved by the party.
He said that the PDP had not entered into any form of discussion or contact with the ADC or its officials.
He explained that those who attended the meeting did so on their own and should not be seen as speaking for the PDP.
According to him, the claims surrounding the meeting do not represent the party’s official position and should be dismissed by members and the public.
He added that the party is currently focused on its internal plans, especially preparations for its upcoming primaries.
He said details about the timetable and guidelines would be shared at the right time, while the party continues working towards providing leadership for Nigerians.
Earlier, the Turaki-led group visited the faction of the ADC associated with David Mark, describing the meeting as a show of support ahead of the 2027 elections.
The discussion lasted for about two hours in the evening and touched on national issues and possible cooperation between parties.
Several well-known political figures attended the meeting, including former Minister of Information Jerry Gana, former Niger State Governor Babangida Aliyu, and former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar. Also present were former governors Peter Obi, Rabiu Kwankwaso, Aminu Tambuwal and Rotimi Amaechi.
Others at the meeting included ADC national secretary Rauf Aregbesola, former Attorney-General Abubakar Malami, along with other senior political figures who took part in the talks.
