A large crowd of supporters were seen welcoming the former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar, to Ibadan, the Oyo State capital, ahead of the National Summit of all opposition parties.
PrimeTimes Nigeria reports that former governor of Anambra State, Peter Obi, and his Kano State counterpart, Rabiu Kwankwaso, alongside other opposition heavyweights, are expected at the summit, being hosted by the Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, a member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Atiku, one of the opposition leaders jostling for the African Democratic Congress (ADC) presidential ticket for the 2027 election, shared a video of his arrival on his 𝕏 handle.
In the video, a mammoth crowd was seen singing and welcoming Atiku at the airport.
He captioned the video: “I have just arrived in Ibadan, Oyo State, for the National Summit of all opposition parties.”
Meanwhile, the National Publicity Secretary of the ADC, Bolaji Abdullahi, has raised the alarm over an alleged plot by the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) to disrupt the summit.
In a statement on Saturday morning, the opposition coalition spokesperson claimed that after being denied access to venues in Abuja, efforts were now being made to frustrate their gathering in Ibadan.
He said the development reflects a pattern of interference aimed at weakening opposition activities.
Abdullahi further accused the ruling party of hypocrisy, noting that while it publicly claims not to be threatened, its actions suggest otherwise.
Despite the alleged plot, the ADC Spokesman maintained that it would go ahead with the summit.
