Tinubu Holds Crucial Talks With APC Governors After Senate Meeting

Tinubu and APC governors

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is currently holding a closed-door meeting with governors elected on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC) at the State House in Abuja.

The meeting, initially scheduled for 4 p.m. at the Council Chamber, eventually commenced around 5 p.m. after it was moved to the conference room of the President’s office.

Among the governors present are: Babagana Zulum (Borno), Hope Uzodimma (Imo), Inuwa Yahaya (Gombe), Hyacinth Alia (Benue), Biodun Oyebanji (Ekiti), Peter Mbah (Enugu), AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq (Kwara).

Some states are, however, represented by their deputy governors.

As of the time of filing this report, the agenda of the meeting had not been made public, fuelling speculation about the issues under discussion.

The development comes shortly after President Tinubu held an emergency closed-door meeting with Senate leadership on Wednesday.

Speaking after that meeting, Senate Majority Leader Opeyemi Bamidele said “far-reaching decisions” were taken on matters of urgent national importance.

He added that the decisions were based on resolutions reached during an earlier executive session of the Senate.

Although details remain unclear, the back-to-back high-level meetings suggest ongoing consultations within the government and ruling party on key national matters.
