The immediate past Secretary to the Ondo State Government, Taiwo Fasoranti, has said President Bola Tinubu assumed office at a critical period in Nigeria’s history.
PrimeTimes Nigeria reports that Fasoranti, who is the son of Afenifere national leader, Reuben Fasoranti, made the remarks on Wednesday, April 15, 2026.
He noted that despite prevailing challenges, the current administration had made noticeable progress across key sectors.
“The dividends of democracy are visible for all to see. We are not there yet, but with the reforms introduced so far, I believe we will get there,” Vanguard quoted him as saying.
Fasoranti pointed to improvements in the economy, particularly in the foreign exchange market.
“Look at the dollar-to-naira exchange rate; it has started declining, which reflects a stabilising economy,” he added.
On insecurity, the former SSG said the Federal Government was addressing the issue with deliberate efforts, noting that security challenges were not peculiar to Nigeria.
“Insecurity is also being addressed with deliberate attention. Security challenges are a global issue,” he stated.
Fasoranti further expressed confidence in the administration’s Renewed Hope Agenda, saying it had begun to yield positive results.
“All we can do is support him to ensure that the initiatives aimed at strengthening our democracy are sustained by encouraging and backing these laudable projects,” he said.
“Clearly, no one has been left behind.”
‘Tinubu will win in 2027’
The former SSG declared his strong belief in Tinubu’s re-election prospects.
“I believe Tinubu has performed well. Another four-year term will further secure his legacy in the annals of history.
“In 2027, I am 110 per cent confident of his victory. I have no doubt in my mind,” he said.
Speaking on his political future, Fasoranti confirmed his intention to contest the Ondo Central Senatorial District seat in the 2027 general elections.
He said his decision was driven by a desire to provide quality representation and effective leadership.
“I believe our people deserve quality representation, purposeful leadership, and committed service. I also believe we can do better than what we currently have,” he said.
Fasoranti stated that his goal was to ensure that his constituency benefits more from federal initiatives.
“My goal is to serve my community and ensure they benefit from the dividends of democracy under the present administration, where I served as SSG,” he said.
He also commended Ondo State Governor, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, noting that the state was on a steady development path.
“The state is currently on a steady path under the leadership of Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa. The best we can do is attract more federal presence in this dispensation,” he added.
The former SSG emphasised that his background and upbringing under the Afenifere’s Omoluabi ethos would guide his leadership style.
He assured constituents of accountability and effective service delivery if elected.
Fasoranti highlighted his experience as a medical doctor who worked at the Presidential Villa for 15 years, saying it had equipped him with the necessary exposure and network.
“I am not a stranger to Abuja, and I believe returning there as a senator will greatly benefit Ondo Central,” he said.
“We are not novices when it comes to delivering development. Our track record speaks for itself.”
PrimeTimes Nigeria reports that Fasoranti, who was appointed SSG by Governor Aiyedatiwa in 2024, resigned his position on April 3 to pursue his senatorial ambition in the 2027 elections.
