Yoruba nation agitator, Sunday Adeyemo, on Thursday visited Okun-speaking Yoruba communities in Kogi State, where he held a series of meetings with traditional rulers and stakeholders on growing security concerns.
The visit, which took place in Kabba and other Yoruba towns in the state, was aimed at addressing rising cases of insecurity and banditry affecting local communities. During the engagement, Adeyemo, popularly known as Sunday Igboho, met with several monarchs to explore possible solutions to the challenges facing the region.
Sources within the communities disclosed that the meetings focused on collaborative approaches to safeguarding lives and property, as well as strengthening local vigilance structures.
However, the development has sparked reactions among some Yoruba groups, particularly in Kwara State, where concerns have been raised over his perceived absence despite reported calls for similar intervention.
Observers note that while Igboho’s visit to Kogi followed what appeared to be a formal invitation by Okun leaders, questions remain as to why similar engagements have not taken place in Kwara, where some communities are also grappling with security challenges.
As of press time, there has been no official statement from Adeyemo addressing the concerns or clarifying his position regarding requests from Kwara-based Yoruba communities.
