Renowned Nigerian controversial Islamic cleric, Sheikh Ahmad Gumi, has said that the ongoing hostilities involving Iran are directed at the country’s Islamic Republic system rather than its citizens.
PrimeTimes Nigeria reports that Gumi made this known in a Facebook post on Tuesday, where he shared his perspective on the geopolitical tension surrounding the country.
According to the cleric, the crisis should not be interpreted as a direct attack on the Iranian populace.
“They are fighting the Islamic Republic, not the Iranian people,” he wrote.
Gumi further expressed optimism about the role of Persians in the future of Islam, noting that they would be instrumental in defending the faith.
“In the end of times, the Persians will hold the flag of Islam, which represents resistance to Evil. Therefore grief not, the end of Evil is nigh,” he added.
The cleric also cautioned individuals against making jest of Allah’s name, stressing that ultimate authority lies with God.
“As for mocking with Allah’s name. Allah the Almighty is already in charge,” Gumi stated.
Gumi’s comments come amid rising tensions involving Iran, following an earlier warning issued by the President of the United States, Donald Trump.
Trump had taken to his Truth Social platform to deliver the message, further heightening global concerns over the situation.
