Ruby Rose has accused Katy Perry of sexually assaulting her nearly 20 years ago, while Perry’s team is forcefully denying the allegation.
Rose made the claim Sunday in a series of posts on Threads after seeing a social media post about Perry reacting to Justin Bieber’s Coachella performance.
“Katy Perry [sexually assaulted me at spice market nightclub in Melbourne,” Rose wrote. “Who gives a s–t what she thinks.”
The former Orange Is the New Black star later said the alleged incident happened when she was in her early 20s.
“I was only in my early 20s,” Rose wrote. “I’m now 40. It has taken almost 2 decades to say this publicly.”
Rose also alleged that she previously spoke about the encounter publicly but described it at the time as a “funny little drunk story” because she “didn’t know how else to handle it.”
Ruby Rose first gained attention in Australia as an MTV VJ and television presenter before breaking out internationally with her role as Stella Carlin on Orange Is the New Black.
She later starred in films including John Wick: Chapter 2, Pitch Perfect 3 and The Meg. Rose also took on the lead role of Kate Kane in Batwoman, becoming the first openly lesbian superhero lead in a live-action television series.
