The All Progressives Congress (APC) has declared that its governorship candidate, Bola Oyebamiji, will defeat the current Governor of Osun State, Ademola Adeleke, in the 2026 election.
PrimeTimes Nigeria reports that this position was made known by the Director General of the party’s campaign organisation, Oluwole Oke, during the inauguration of over 800 members of the campaign council on Wednesday.
Oke said the party had already begun strong mobilisation efforts across the state and was fully prepared for the contest. He expressed confidence that the APC would secure victory on election day and insisted that the party’s goal to remove the sitting governor would be achieved.
He criticized the present administration, accusing it of poor handling of state resources and claiming that several sectors such as education, health, agriculture and mining were not performing as expected. According to him, public institutions in the state were not operating effectively.
Oke also dismissed the government’s focus on salary payments, arguing that paying workers is a basic duty and should not be presented as an achievement. He maintained that the people of Osun deserved better governance and improved living conditions.
He added that the APC campaign team was determined to tackle issues like poverty, unemployment and weak governance if elected.
He said the party had plans to improve the welfare of residents and restore progress in the state.
“The incumbent is gone. His days in office are numbered. The truth remains that the government has failed the people of Osun State on all fronts.
“It is unfortunate that their sing-song is paying salary, forgetting that workers deserve pay. It is not an achievement that someone is paying salary.
“I have always said this: we are experts in removing a sitting governor. We will remove Adeleke before 10:00pm on 15th August 2026. Bola Oyebamiji will win and be declared the validly elected governor of Osun,” he said.
