The Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Rasidi Ladoja, has called on the administration led by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to urgently ensure the establishment of state police.
He urged the President to expedite action on the matter on Monday while receiving participants of the Executive Intelligence Management Course (EIMC) 19, 2026, from the National Institute for Security Studies (NISS), Bwari, Abuja.
While speaking to the visitors at his palace in Oke Aremo, in the Ibadan North local government area, the highly revered traditional ruler stated that the move is critical to addressing the prevailing level of insecurity across the country.

Ladoja, a former governor of Oyo State, also noted in a statement issued by his Chief Press Secretary, Chief Solomon Ayoade, that state police will complement the efforts of other security agencies.
Asserting that the most serious challenge facing Nigeria at the moment is insecurity, he used the opportunity to call on the Federal Government not to waste any more time in the establishment of state police.
The Olubadan said, “I call on the Federal Government to expedite action on the establishment of state police to complement the efforts of other security agencies and to ensure effective community policing.”
