THE presidential hopeful of Africa Democratic Congress, Mr. Peter Obi, has called on Nigerians to remain hopeful amid current economic and social challenges, drawing parallels between the nation’s situation and the Christian journey from Good Friday to Easter Sunday.
Writing via his X (formerly Twitter) handle, Obi acknowledged the economic hardship facing many Nigerian families but encouraged perseverance. He stated that just as Good Friday precedes Easter Sunday, present difficulties should be seen as temporary.
“At Easter, I sincerely share with you the weight of the economic burden on families, even as I encourage you not to lose heart,” he said. “Let us see our current struggles as a temporary ‘cross’ that we must bear before our nation can experience a political and economic rebirth.”
The former governor attributed the country’s challenges to poor leadership, describing the situation as a period of intense suffering symbolised by the crucifixion. However, he expressed optimism about the possibility of national renewal.
According to him, a “New Nigeria” remains achievable through resilience and improved governance, adding that the hope of transformation is assured just as the resurrection followed the crucifixion.
Obi concluded by expressing confidence that despite the challenges ahead, the nation will eventually experience its “Alleluia moment,” projecting hope toward 2027.
