The Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet) has warned that many parts of the country may experience thunderstorms, strong winds and possible disruption to daily activities on Monday.
PrimeTimes Nigeria reports that the weather agency shared this update on Sunday through its official đť•Ź platform, explaining that the day is expected to start with hot and sunny conditions in most places before changing later.
In the Northern region, the morning heat is likely to give way to isolated thunderstorms as the day progresses. Areas such as Taraba State may experience brief weather changes, including gusty winds.
For the North-Central zone, the agency said the day may begin calm and warm but could turn stormy later. Some states may record rainfall, while others could face strong winds without much rain. States likely to be affected include Niger, Kwara, Benue, Kogi, Nasarawa and the Federal Capital Territory.
In the southern part of the country, heavier storm activity is expected as the day advances. Residents in states like Lagos, Ogun, Oyo, Enugu, Anambra, Rivers and Delta may experience rainfall, lightning and conditions that could interrupt outdoor plans.
The agency also advised residents to take safety steps ahead of the weather changes. People were told to secure items that could be blown away by strong winds and to be careful when driving due to poor visibility and slippery roads during rainfall.
It also warned against staying in areas that are prone to flooding during heavy rain and advised people to find safe shelter when there is lightning.
Airlines were also advised to get weather updates from NiMet offices at airports to ensure safe flight operations.
