The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), Minna Operations Office, on 27th April 2026, conducted a capacity-building training for personnel of the Federal Fire Service (FFS), Zone G Command, Minna.
The training was aimed at enhancing the operational effectiveness of participants in emergency response situations, particularly incidents involving trapped victims.
The session focused on improving the technical competence of personnel in the safe and efficient use of Search and Rescue (SAR) extrication equipment. Emergency scenarios addressed during the exercise included building collapse, fire outbreaks, road traffic accidents, and tanker explosion incidents.
The NEMA team was led by the Head of Operations, Mr. Husseni Isah, alongside other operational staff. The training was facilitated by the Head of the Search and Rescue Unit, Mr. Shamsudeen A. Haliru, who delivered technical sessions supported by practical hands-on demonstrations. Officers and personnel of the Federal Fire Service actively participated throughout the exercise.
In his remarks, the State Controller of FFS Zone G, AC Alkali D. Mohammed, expressed appreciation to NEMA for the impactful training. He commended the professionalism and commitment of the NEMA team and emphasized the need for sustained collaboration between both agencies to strengthen emergency response systems.
The training achieved its objectives by improving the operational readiness of participants and reinforcing inter-agency cooperation.
