Megan Thee Stallion was rushed to a New York hospital after suddenly falling ill during a performance of Moulin Rouge! The Musical and leaving the stage before the show ended.

The rapper, who recently made her Broadway debut in the production, was performing Tuesday night when she began feeling sick.

“During Tuesday night’s production, Megan started feeling very ill and was promptly transported to a local hospital, where her symptoms are currently being evaluated,” her representative said in a statement.

No additional details about her condition have been released.

The medical scare comes just days after Megan launched her highly anticipated run in the musical at the Al Hirschfeld Theatre. The Grammy winner joined the cast on March 24 for what was expected to be an eight-week engagement through May 17. Megan was cast as Harold Zidler, the flashy nightclub owner originally played by Tony winner Danny Burstein. When her role was announced earlier this year, Megan said she was eager to take on the challenge of Broadway.

“Stepping onto the Broadway stage and joining the Moulin Rouge! The Musical team is an absolute honor,” she said. “I’ve always believed in pushing myself creatively and theater is definitely a new opportunity that I’m excited to embrace.”

“Broadway demands a different level of discipline, preparation and storytelling,” she added. “But I’m up for the challenge.”

It is not yet clear whether Megan will be able to return to the show this week or who will step into the role in her absence.
