President InterTech Football Academy Kano, Dr. Suleiman Musa and others have appealed to relevant authorities, particularly the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL), for the postponement of the scheduled match between Kano Pillars FC and Rivers United FC slated today in Kano.
Postponing the match, he said, will serve as a mark of honour and respect to a man who dedicated his life to the development of football in Nigeria, and whose impact continues to be felt across generations.
This appeal is made in view of the fact that today is the burial of the late Alhaji Ibrahim Galadima, who died Yesterday a highly respected statesman, former Chairman of the Nigeria Football Association, and a founding figure whose contributions were instrumental to the establishment and growth of Kano Pillars Football Club.
Dr. Alex Manna former FIFA badged referee and football administrator corroborated Dr. Musa when he said, “This is absolutely in order, as doing otherwise will be a disrespectful signal to the death and indeed to the contributions of the passage of an icon, a worshiper of good ideals and a principled gentleman of our time this underpinned who Alh,Ibrahim Galadima was to people like us.”
He prayed that God rest the soul of the football icon.
In his condolence message, former Chairman Gombe United football club Alhaji Ahmed Shuaibu Gara Gombe said: “Since his passing was announced I was devastated and speechless that was why I could not express my condolences to all of us, I am so close to Late Ibrahim Galadima.”
Since the passing of Alhaji Galadima was announced yesterday, football stakeholders such as NFF, NSC have been pouring encomiums and condolences on the late football administrator whose burial would take place today in Kano
