THE Federal Government has reiterated its commitment to reducing poverty and creating opportunities to enhance the livelihoods of Nigerians, especially in rural communities.
The National Programme Manager of the Renewed Hope Government Enterprise and Empowerment Programme (RH-GEEP) 3.0 FarmerMoni for dry and wet seasons, Hamza Ibrahim-Baba, said this on Sunday in Kano at a media sensitisation for the North-West zone.
He said the programme was part of the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Tinubu, aimed at empowering micro and small enterprises across the country.
“GEEP 3.0 is designed to reach underserved communities and stimulate economic growth from the grassroots.
“Our goal is to support Nigerians at the bottom of the economic pyramid, improve their livelihoods, and create opportunities for sustainable income,” he said.
Earlier, the Director-General of the Kano Social Protection Agency, Fatima Abubakar-Abdullahi, said the initiative was targeted at empowering vulnerable groups, especially those in rural areas.
She said the programme would provide access to interest-free loans and capacity-building opportunities for rural farmers and small-scale traders.
Abubakar-Abdullahi stressed the need for increased awareness, noting that many eligible beneficiaries were yet to fully understand how to access the scheme.
“Sensitisation like this is critical. When people understand how the programme works, participation increases, and the impact becomes more meaningful,” she said. (NAN)
