The African Democratic Congress, ADC, led by Nafiu Bala Gombe, has rejected a video that is currently circulating in the public domain, which portrays a deserted elective national convention venue by his faction of the party.

Nafiu characterized the video as the product of agents working for a coalition’s propaganda machinery.

He stated that the video inaccurately referred to a supposed elective convention that was allegedly conducted at the Velodrome of the Moshood Abiola International Stadium in Abuja.

In a statement issued by his Chief of Staff, Hon. Bala Sani Kumo, Bala claimed that the national leadership of the ADC, under him, never issued a notice regarding any elective convention to its members, nor has it authorized such an event.

He emphasized that the party is dedicated to adhering to due process, constitutionalism, and the rule of law, and it will await the outcome of an ongoing legal case currently before the Federal High Court, as well as a related appeal pending before the Supreme Court.

The statement noted, “The aforementioned video, created by agents of the coalition’s propaganda machinery, references a supposed elective convention of the ADC that was allegedly held at the Velodrome of the Moshood Abiola International Stadium in Abuja.

“To clarify and correct the record, the ADC, under the national leadership of Hon. Nafiu Bala Gombe, has not, at any point, issued a notice of an elective convention to its members, nor has it sanctioned any such gathering.

“As a responsible and law-abiding political party that adheres to the principles of due process, constitutionalism, and the rule of law, the ADC will await the resolution of the case currently pending before the Federal High Court and the related appeal before the Supreme Court. The matter has been adjourned to April 22, 2026.

“We remain confident in the judicial process and are hopeful that the Court’s judgment will support our position.

“Following the delivery of the judgment, the party will communicate the outcome through its official and recognized channels to duly communicate the approved schedule of activities to our esteemed members and the general public.”
