Lagos State Deputy Governor, Obafemi Hamzat, has started holding meetings as part of early moves ahead of the 2027 governorship race in the state.
PrimeTimes Nigeria reports that on Monday, April 13, Hamzat met with members of the Governance Advisory Council, along with party leaders and other stakeholders during a visit to elder statesman, Prince Tajudeen Olusi, in Lagos.
Those present at the meeting included key figures such as Mutiu Are, Musiliu Obanikoro, and Bode Oyedele, all members of the council.
The gathering forms part of a wider round of consultations taking place across Lagos, as political discussions around the 2027 governorship election continue to grow.
Sharing details of the meeting on his 𝕏 account, Hamzat said he had begun engaging with leaders of the council to discuss the future direction of Lagos. He described the discussions as open and focused on the kind of leadership the state needs moving forward.
He also noted that he values the advice and experience shared during the interaction, adding that the process is about listening, learning, and working with others to improve the state.
He wrote: “Today, I began consultations with respected members of the Governance Advisory Council.
“We had honest, thoughtful conversations about the future of Lagos and the kind of leadership it requires.
“I value the experience and guidance shared. This is about listening, learning and working with others to build a stronger Lagos.”
