Leaders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the Ogun East Senatorial District have chosen Dapo Abiodun as their preferred candidate for the 2027 Senate election.

PrimeTimes Nigeria reports that the decision was reached on Monday during a large political meeting held at Adeola Odutola Hall in Ijebu-Ode. The gathering brought together party leaders and grassroots representatives from across the senatorial district.

According to information released by the governor’s media office, the meeting had wide participation from key party figures. Those present included members of the Governor’s Advisory Council, former and current local government chairmen, councillors from all wards in the district, as well as former and serving lawmakers at both state and national levels. Women leaders, youth representatives, and other grassroots stakeholders also attended the event.

Party leaders at the meeting expressed confidence that Governor Abiodun has the ability to represent Ogun East effectively at the National Assembly. They also agreed to formally notify the governor about the endorsement and indicated plans to support his candidacy by organizing efforts connected to the 2027 election process.

The Secretary to the State Government, Tokunbo Talabi, noted that the governor’s record in governance and his role in maintaining unity within the party were major reasons behind the decision to support him for the Senate seat.
