President Donald Trump ignited fresh controversy this week with a series of fiery social media posts aimed at both political opponents and longtime celebrity critics.
In a message shared on February 25, the president criticized Reps. Ilhan Omar and Rashida Tlaib, after they vocally objected during his State of the Union address.
Trump described their behavior in harsh terms and suggested they were harming the country.
He then turned his attention to actor Robert De Niro, reviving a years-long feud. Without detailing specifics, Trump accused the Oscar winner of erratic behavior and blasted his recent remarks at a counterprogramming event in Washington, D.C.
At that gathering, De Niro grew emotional while speaking about the direction of the country.
“I feel betrayed by my country,” he told attendees, urging Americans to defend constitutional values and “take our country back.”
Trump also referenced comedian Rosie O’Donnell, another frequent critic, as he doubled down on his claims that the nation is thriving under his leadership.
