Prosecutors in Gwinnett County have decided not to pursue charges in the fatal shooting of Atlanta rapper Tevin Hood, known to fans as T-Hood.
District Attorney Patsy Austin-Gatson confirmed her office conducted its own review of the case before reaching the conclusion. “The facts of the case and the law align with the police determination that the shooting death was self-defense,” she said in a statement.
Officers responded to a home in unincorporated Snellville on Aug. 8 after reports of gunfire. Hood, 33, was found with multiple gunshot wounds and later died at a hospital. Authorities have said the incident began as a domestic dispute. The individual who fired the shots remained at the scene and cooperated with investigators.
Austin-Gatson noted that her team examined whether any independent witnesses saw what happened. “We specifically investigated whether there was a ride-share driver present who witnessed the shooting, and there was no witness there,” she said, adding that neighbors arrived only after hearing gunfire.
The district attorney’s office met privately with Hood’s family to share the findings and offer condolences.
Hood built a following in Atlanta with tracks like “Perculator” and “Ready 2 Go.”
