Olukayode Afeni, the Acting Area Comptroller, Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), Ogun 1 Area Command, Idiroko, has reiterated the command’s commitment to protecting local vegetable oil industries against smugglers.
Afeni gave the assurance in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Friday in Idiroko.
He reaffirmed the command’s unwavering commitment to curbing the smuggling of vegetable oil and other prohibited items that pose serious health risks to the public.
“By removing illicit goods like vegetable oil from the market, we are ensuring a competitive trade environment that protects our local vegetable oil industry and safeguard the health of the citizens.
“Also, we will do everything possible through high-level intelligence and strategic monitoring to unravel any new tactics of smugglers against bringing illicit goods into the country,” he said.
Afeni said the command’s priority is to keep the borders safe from activities that could undermine national interests. (NAN)(www.nannews.ng)
