Justin Baldoni has scored a procedural win in his ongoing legal battle with Blake Lively after a judge granted his request to delay key pretrial deadlines.
In a filing submitted March 25, Baldoni’s legal team argued they were overwhelmed by what they described as a “document dump” from Lively’s attorneys. The filing claimed the materials included “voluminous disclosures that are not practical for trial purposes,” including nearly 1,000 potential exhibits.
“It is difficult to imagine that even half that number would be put before the jury,” the letter stated.
The defense also took issue with the scope of the case, noting Lively identified more than 40 potential witnesses, which they described as further evidence of “overbreadth.” They argued they should not be forced to review a “document dump… containing voluminous amounts of plainly inadmissible material” while working under tight deadlines.

Lively’s legal team pushed back the following day, calling the request “an incremental tactic to delay the trial” and arguing that “Defendants’ own delay should not be rewarded.”
They also rejected claims about the volume of materials, stating there was “no reason that Defendants cannot do the same” in reviewing the evidence.
A judge ultimately sided with Baldoni’s team, granting a one-week extension and scheduling a status conference for April 2.
Lively accused Baldoni in a December 2024 lawsuit of sexual harassment and retaliation related to their work on It Ends With Us. In her filing, she alleges that Baldoni engaged in inappropriate behavior during production and that she faced professional consequences after raising concerns. Baldoni has denied the allegations, and the case remains ongoing as both sides prepare for trial.
