Nollywood actress and filmmaker Funke Akindele has spoken about the pressures she faced in the industry.
In an Instagram post, the box-office queen said the pressure didn’t break her but matured her. According to her, it taught her patience, discipline, and emotional control.
“The pressure didn’t break me. It matured me. It taught me patience, discipline, and emotional control”.
Since hitting billionaire status, Funke has been weekly ditching out motivational words to thee public.
Days back, she shared some motivational words with her fans on rejection, saying that every “no ” she received prepared her for the “yes ” that mattered. She emphasised that rejection doesn’t reduce you but directs you.
In a previous post, Funke reflected on her first Cinema movie, Return of Jenifa, which grossed N35 million and was the highest-grossing movie in 2011. Funke said that she can’t believe how far she has come and expressed gratitude to all who supported her on her journey.
In another post, Akindele spoke about her passion and expressed gratitude to her Maker. She stated that filmmaking is her passion, what she truly loves to do, and she is thankful for the opportunity to share it with her fanmily.
Back in 2024, she had opened up on the hard times she experienced before rising to stardom. She counted herself as a testimony of believing in herself, saying she faced different challenges but learned to stand tall and encourage others because of them.
While sharing motivational words to young creatives, she admitted that her journey to success wasn’t always pretty, but it was worth it. Funke expressed how proud she was that she came from a place of hustle and hard work.
Also, while speaking at an event, Funke said nobody made her a star, only God. The movie star recalled how the idea of Jenifa’s brand came to her and how someone in the industry told her to keep milking Jenifa’s brand and gave her money to finance her projects.
Last year, Akindele had celebrated 27 years in the movie industry. She noted how God’s favour and hard work have brought her this far, and revealed the key to achieving continuous success.
