FKA twigs has filed a new legal complaint against her former partner, Shia LaBeouf, challenging the enforcement of a nondisclosure agreement she says should not be enforced.
In court filings submitted March 25, the artist, born Tahliah Barnett, seeks to block parts of the agreement, arguing they violate California law and public policy. The filing comes years after her 2020 lawsuit, in which she accused LaBeouf of sexual battery, assault, and emotional distress. That case was settled in July 2025.
According to the complaint, LaBeouf has claimed Barnett breached the NDA following a 2024 interview. Her attorney, Matthew Rosengart, addressed the decision to return to court.
“She files this action to right a wrong,” he said, adding that it is also “on behalf of other women who are the victims of sexual and domestic violence.”
Rosengart continued, “She seeks to ensure that survivors of sexual misconduct are not bullied or silenced like she was.”
The filing states there is no financial or professional motivation behind the move. “There is no financial or professional gain for Barnett,” her attorney said.
LaBeouf has previously denied the allegations made against him.
The case is now before Los Angeles Superior Court, where Barnett is asking a judge to rule on the enforceability of the agreement.
FKA twigs and Shia LaBeouf began dating in 2018 after meeting on the set of the film Honey Boy. Their relationship lasted for less than a year, ending in 2019.
