Dave Blunts is opening up about the origins of his brief but heated feud with 50 Cent.
During a recent interview with Bootleg Kev, the rapper reflected on the online back-and-forth that played out last year, explaining that he stepped into the situation after comments were made about Kanye West and his wife, Bianca Censori.
“That stuff didn’t faze me at all,” Blunts said during the conversation. “The only reason I said anything was because he had said something about Ye.”
Blunts shared that he and Ye were close at the time and spoke frequently. According to the rapper, Ye was dealing with a lot personally and was unsure how to respond to criticism circulating online.
“We were talking on the phone,” Blunts recalled. “He said he didn’t really know what to do when it came to all that.”
Blunts said he encouraged Ye to stay quiet while he handled the situation himself.
“I told him don’t say nothing,” he explained. “I know he’s not going to stop if you respond to him. Me, I’m with all the nonsense all the time. I said I’ll say something.”
The exchange eventually turned into a public dispute that included diss tracks and social media posts. Blunts later parted ways with Ye after their friendship cooled.
